In this article, we’ll show you how to filter your Albacross analytics data to pinpoint the hottest and most high-value leads.

Many marketers are realising the huge potential of targeting their website’s unconverted traffic - the people that didn’t opt-in or book a call on their last visit.

But there’s a problem.

We started Albacross because we were frustrated. The software for identifying these visitors usually costs hundreds of dollars, euros or pounds every month.

So we pooled decades of marketing experience and built the world’s first free web tracking tool. In this article, we’ll show you how to use it effectively.

The process is simple, quick and easy to automate. Let’s dive in.

1. Set up your tracking code

Albacross works by matching the IP (internet protocol) addresses of your site’s visitors with specific companies. Devices on corporate networks tend to use the same IP, which means we can figure out where they’re coming from.

We have a huge database filled with information about tens of thousands of companies. It’s not possible to identify everybody (this is what’s called match rate) but we do a pretty good job.

If you haven’t already, you need to install a few lines of tracking code on your site. This lets us get the information we need.

Just head over to this help article.

It will guide you through setting up your code either manually, on WordPress or with Google Tag Manager.

2. Learn how to use filtering tools

To get the most out of our analytics platform, you need to use filters.

For a high-traffic site, we can often identify thousands of visitors. So it’s important to pinpoint the highest-value leads.

With quick filters, you can instantly filter leads with a predefined set of parameters.

Quick Filters

It’s when you start using custom filters, however, that things start to get interesting. This function enables you to create and save your own multifaceted filters. This means you can target companies with a range of shared features.

You can filter by any combination of the following:

  • No. of times your site has been visited (activity)
  • Revenue
  • Employees
  • Pages visited
  • Time since last visit
  • Location (country)
  • Source (Facebook, Google Search, paid ads etc.)

The idea is to find companies and accounts that fit your ideal customer profile (ICP). Once you’ve done that, you can rank your leads with a view to targeting those most likely to convert and with the highest potential value.

Let’s look at a specific example.

How to get started: An example from Albacross

Here’s a process straight from our own strategy. This is how we would identify a group of strong potential leads with a view to reaching out to them:

  1. Define a best-fit group of high-value leads - In this example, we will focus on big companies (with revenue of more than EUR 100,000), located in Sweden that visited us from Facebook.

  2. Set custom parameters - We’ll start by clicking Create new filter on the home page (see screenshot below).

Create New Filter

Next, we will give our new filter a cool(ish) name like Fantastical Facebook Leads. We’ll set Revenue to 100K, Country to Sweden and Source to Facebook. All that’s left to do is hit Save filter.

Create A Filter

  1. Rank and tag the highest-value accounts - Now we can apply our filter from the Saved filters tab and click through to manually check each result. We’ll look at things like the description, revenue, time-on-site etc. Though every single visitor might be a viable lead, we’ll apply a tag of either Hot Prospect or Prospect based on what we find. We might also filter out any competitors, suppliers or customers.

Hot Prospects

That’s it. We now have a ranked list of leads ready for marketing! But there’s one more thing to do…

3. Automate email alerts

OK, so you might be thinking, “This is great but it sounds like a lot of hard work to do on a regular basis!”

Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

You can use our automated email reporting tool to get regular updates. When we find new leads that meet your criteria we’ll tell you.

Simply click on your name in the top right corner of the dashboard and select Email Reports from the dropdown. Hit Create report.

Create Report

Then simply pop your email in and select the filter you want a report for and how often you want to receive it.

Email Report

And you’re done. Scrumptious new leads delivered to your inbox every week.

What’s next?

Once you’ve identified and ranked your new leads, it’s time to convert them to customers! You can add leads directly to Albacross’ ad platform and target them with personalised display ads.

This is one of the most effective ways of connecting with high-value accounts. Albacross makes the whole process seamless by integrating the tracking tool with its ad platform.

Alternatively, you can collect the email addresses of key individuals within target companies and email them directly. Read this guide to get started.

And don’t forget that you can track as many sites as you want! There’s no limit to how many you can add or the number of leads you can generate.

Now, time to start filtering!
